Update Oracle VirtualBox

Make sure you’re using the latest version of Oracle VirtualBox. Do not use the update checker feature in the main menu due to internal bugs reported by some users. Go to the official website and download latest version available. After updating all application components and restarting your PC, 0x00005d error won’t appear again.

Run a Script

Run the below script with Command Prompt before opening the VirtualBox:

1. Open up Command Prompt as administrator. Use the Search feature by typing “CMD” and then right clicking “Command Prompt,” selecting Run as administrator.


2. Execute below command:

  • “C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe” setextradata global VBoxInternal/CPUM/CMPXCHG16B 1


3. After executing the command, restart your computer.

Important: Make changes to above program path according to the original installation directory as it may vary.

Turn On Essential Features

Set your processor for No Execute feature. Change BIOS settings to make Windows 10 compatible with your processor.

1. Restart your PC; press F2 or Delete key repeatedly to open up BIOS Configurations.

2. Go to Advanced tab, and then CPU Configuration | No-Execute Memory Protection.

3. Set this feature “Enabled.”

4. Go to Exit menu, select “Save changes and exit” option. Your PC will restart automatically.
