Verify Minimum System Requirements

Modify System Configurations

Do follow below steps only if you use a 32 bit Windows.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8:

1. Press Windows Key + X, select Command Prompt.

2. Type following command:

  • bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072

3. Press ENTER key.

4. Restart your computer after executing above command.

Remember, if you want to revert the settings directly run following command:

  • bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa

For Windows 7/ Vista:

1. Click Start.

2. In the Search Box type “CMD.”

3. Right click the keyword in Search Results, select Run as administrator.

4. Refer Steps # 2-4 under Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

Turn Off DirectDraw Emulation Feature

Modify computer registry and turn off an incompatible feature.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

1. Press Windows Key + R.

2. Type “RegEdit” and click OK.

3. Locate the following subkey:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw

DirectDraw-String

4. Double click a string named “EmulationOnly.”

5. Replace the existing string value with “0” (without quotes).

Disabling-EmulationOnly-Feature

6. Click OK, exit out of the screen.

Re-launch in Compatibility Mode

Here’s how to deal with product compatibility issues:

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Right-click Witcher game desktop shortcut.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. In the new dialog that opens, click Compatibility tab.
  4. Check-up “Run this program in compatibility for” checkbox.
  5. Click Apply | OK.

Turn Off Minimum Requirements Check

When enabled, this feature automatically checks whether your PC compels with minimum requirements. Bypass the task as it may be causing the Witcher crashes.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Right-click Witcher game desktop shortcut, select Properties.
  2. Click Shortcut tab.
  3. In the Target textbox, add “-dontforceminreqs” (without quotes) at the end.
  4. Click Apply | OK.

Do Not participate in Steam Beta

As default, you’re enabled to take part in the Steam Beta service. Disable that feature too.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Open Steam.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. In the new dialog that opens, click Account tab.
  4. Click Change button under Beta Participation frame.
  5. Select None option.
  6. The process of downloading a new stable release will start.

Change NVIDIA Control Panel Settings

Fire up NVIDIA graphics options and modify frame rendering configurations.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Right-click your Desktop, select NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Click Manage 3D Settings link.
  3. Click Program Settings tab.
  4. Browse and add the following file:
  • ..\Steam\SteamApps\Common\The Witcher\Enhanced Edition\System\Witcher.exe
  1. Click Add.
  2. Set Force Alternate Frame Rendering= 2
  3. Click Apply and then exit.
