Check System Requirements
Make sure your computer has all the following software and hardware:
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo/ Athlon 64 X2
- RAM: 4 GB

- Audio Card: Must support Microsoft DirectX
- Free Disk Space: 50 GB
- Software: Microsoft DirectX 11
Exclude Game Files from Data Execution Prevention
DEP is a security feature in Windows. If you believe it conflicts with your game files, exclude the game files.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Right- click This PC or Computer or My Computer icon; select the Properties.
- Click “Advanced system settings” link.
- Click Advanced tab in the new dialog that appears.
- Click Settings (Performance).
- Click Data Execution Prevention tab.
- Select the second option named “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.”
- Click Add.
- Add each Executable File (.exe) in following location:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Evolve
- Click OK | OK.
Run the Game as Administrator
Run Evolve as administrator.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Right click Evolve desktop shortcut.
- Select Run as administrator option from context menu items.
Rename Cache Folder
Evolve crashes when Cache folder contents are corrupted. Rename that folder and re-run the game again.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Exit Steam completely.
- Double click This PC or Computer or My Computer icon; open following location:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
3. Rename a folder called “AppCache” as “AppCache_OLD.”
Modify Process Priority
Using Task Manager change the game process priority.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8:
- Right-click Taskbar, select Task Manager.
- Click “More details” icon.
- Click Details tab.
- Right click Evolve.exe process, select Set Priority | High. Remember, if the current process priority is high, restore it to normal.
For Windows 7/ Vista:
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys.
- Click Open Task Manager.
- Click Processes tab.
- Refer Step # 4 under Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8 user’s section.
Modify System.cfg File Contents
Misconfigurations in System.cfg file cause frequent crashes. Here are the changes you need to make:
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Press Windows Key + R to open up Run dialog box.
- Type following path:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Evolve\Beta
- Right-click the file named System.cfg and select Open with | Notepad.
- Set the following values:
- sys_rendersplashscreen = 1
- sys_MaxFps = <Your_Preferred_Frame_Rate>
- Click File | Save.
- Exit Notepad file.
Diagnose Compatibility Issues
Use the Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter wizard, or adjust the compatibility options through Shortcut Properties dialog box.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8:
- Double click This PC or Computer icon.
- Open following folder:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common
- Right-click the neptuniarebirth1.exe file, select Troubleshoot Compatibility.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
For Windows 7/ Vista:
- Refer Steps # 1-2 under Windows 8.2/ 8 user’s section.
- Right-click the neptuniarebirth1.exe file, select Properties.
- It opens up a new dialog box.
- Click Compatibility tab.
- Select an earlier Windows version.
- Click Apply, and then OK.
Turn Off Overlay Feature
Overlay feature may not support all PCs. Try disabling it.
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Open up Steam.
- Go to Games Library.
- Right-click Evolve icon, select Properties.
- Uncheck the checkbox labeled “Enable in-game overlay.”
- Click OK button.
Modify AutoExec.cfg File Contents
Here’s how to modify the text in AutoExec.cfg file located in Evolve installation directory:
For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type following path:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Evolve
- Right click a file named “autoexec.cfg” and select Open with | Notepad.
- Set the following setting:
- r_MotionBlur = 1
- Click File | Save.
