Run in Compatibility Mode

You might want to load SAP in the Compatibility Mode, a feature that runs programs designed for earlier versions of Windows.

  1. Right-click the SAP shortcut on your Desktop.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click the Compatibility tab.
  4. Check-up the box named Run this program in compatibility mode for.
  5. Select a previous Windows version.
  6. Click Apply | OK.

Restart Essential Services To Fix SAP Crashes

Services are resources that run in the background and perform various tasks. Make sure that the Java service is running. You may want to stop and restart it.

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type Services.msc
  3. Click OK.
  4. It opens up a new window. Scroll down the list of services.
  5. Right-click Java, select Properties.
  6. Click the General tab.
  7. Select Automatic (Delayed Start) option in the Startup Type drop-down box.
  8. Click Stop, and then Start.
  9. Click OK.

Reinstall Visual C++ Redist

Several applications require Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package to perform correctly. A corrupted version of Visual C++ Redist may cause SAP crashes.

  2. Select Settings.

  4. Click Apps & Features.
  5. Click the SAP application, and then Uninstall button.
  6. Follow the removal wizard. Restart your computer.
  7. Visit the Visual C++ Redistributable download page and install it.

Make Registry Changes

You may have to modify the System Registry, a collection of the configuration database. Change the settings related to the ODBC database.

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type RegEdit, click OK.
  3. Locate the following subkey:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Wow6432Node | SAP BusinessObjects | Suite XI 4.0 | Crystal Reports | Database | ODBC
  4. Double click the AccessMode
  5. Replace 0 as the string value.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Exit the Registry Editor. Reboot.

Reinstall the SAP

Verify and replace partial or complete installation to revert changes made to your program files. Let’s uninstall the program first, delete the left-over files and reinstall it again.

  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Select Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click the SAP entry, select Uninstall.
  4. Follow the wizard, restart after completion.
  5. Click File Explorer.
  6. Delete the following directories:
    • C:\Program Files\SAP
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP
  7. Exit the File Explorer.
  8. Press Windows Key + X, select Run.
  9. Type AppData and click OK.
  10. Delete the following directory:
    • ..\ Roaming\SAP
  11. Exit the window, restart your computer.
  12. Download the latest version of SAP and install it on your computer.
